I am an advanced technical consultant who specializes in Unix related technologies and Internetworking, and I am looking for contract opportunities. I currently own and operate a web site called "The Korn Shell Web" where I provide programs, applications, and utilities all written in Korn Shell or Perl. Many of my Korn shell programs are web based applications, some of which you may be familiar with, such as: kshEvents (Events Calendar), kshSchedule (Scheduling System), kshIndex (Web Site Management). I am also the author of the "Shell Curses" library, which provides cursor movement functions similar to the C-language "Curses" library. I am also the author of Perl language, web based form generator called "DBIforms", which uses the Perl DBI module to interface with a variety of databases. I have worked with almost every variety of Unix over the last 22 years on a wide variety of platforms. My client list is wide and varied and includes such organizations as Fleming Co’s, Wal-Mart, US Marine Corps, Urocor, Eli Witt Co., Federal Aviation Administration, Southwestern Bell Mobile Telephone, and many others. Each of these organizations has many unique application requirements, and some common requirements as well. As you might imagine, I have designed, implemented, supported and maintained solutions for many of the most widely used applications in use today including Oracle, Informix, Sybase, Ingres, ECS/CONTROL-M, MQSeries, Mercator, Hyperion, Cognos, HP Openview, Apache and many, many custom written applications. I am IBM certified as an Advanced Technical Expert on the AIX RS/6000/pSeries environment and have worked extensively in a wide range of industries such as retail/wholesale, healthcare, aviation, engineering, scientific, telecommunications, and education. Over the years I have written and assembled many documents related to standardized methodologies and procedures, which may be of immediate, help to you. These documents are freely available on my web site at the following URL: http://www.mtxia.com/standards If you are curious about my company name, Mt Xia, this is actually AIX with the little trademark symbol ( tm ), spelled backwards. You may have surmised from this that my main focus is on the IBM AIX platform, which is true, but certainly not exclusive. As I mentioned previously, I have worked with almost every variety of Unix, including Sun and Linux. Additional information about me, my career, and many of the projects on which I have worked is available at the following URL: http://dfrench.tripod.com You may also want to know that I teach Unix and Korn Shell programming for Learning Tree International. I teach these classes at Learning Tree’s Education Centers located in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Reston VA, Rockville MD, and other cities.
